Job Details Position Title : Energy Systems Engineer (id:56581) Campus : Orono Department : Advanced Manufacturing Center - OAMC Bargaining Unit : UMPSA Salary Band/Wage Band : 03 Location : Orono, ME Statement of the Job :

This person will be responsible for: (1) performing screening and advanced technical analyses of CHP systems and hybrid CHP systems (e.g., CHP-solar, CHP-solar-battery); (2) engaging CHP stakeholders (e.g., public utility commissions, ASHRAE) and potential CHP end users; (3) writing summaries of successful CHP projects and policies; and (4) project management.This position will also support other energy-related projects through the Advanced Manufacturing Center. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $55,000 to $65,000 commensurate with qualifications and skills.

Qualifications :


  • A Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in general project management (scheduling tasks, preparing budgets).
  • Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills.
  • Preferred:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge Combined Heat and Power systems and/or components.
  • Demonstrated experience in energy-related projects such as energy management, and/or energy efficiency studies.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with the local owners, CEOs, and plant managers of commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess technical issues, determine problem scope and the time to obtain a solution.
