Sodexo?has a career opportunity available in Long Beach, CA??for a?Environmental Services\\Custodial Manager I for Long Beach Memorial Medical Center! Long Beach Memorial is a large Acute Care hospital?along with a large Children's hospital located in the middle of the Los Angeles/Orange County metro area.??


This role is vital to the success of a very high profile diverse union account. ?This position requires a flexible schedule some weekend and holidays may be required. Relocation is not offered at this time.?


This position will be responsible for customer and client interaction, custodial inspection measurements, on-going training, quality, safety, pest control and the implementation of best practices. It will also be responsible for infection control compliance, improved services, and timeliness of responses and validation of work quality. Manage and coordinate floor care team and project work.


Must have proven ability in:

  • Positive interaction with clients

  • Follow up and communication

  • Handling multiple priorities

  • Working in a matrix organization

  • Interaction with a diverse group - culturally and work groups - to ensure positive customer interaction

  • Fluent in Spanish a plus

  • Previous floor-care experience in a Hospital

The ?Hands-On? manager primarily handles day to day operational functions and ensures unit level, corporate, employee relations, safety, training, and unit operating systems compliance. Managing in a strong union environment is a plus but not a requirement.


Required: Good working knowledge of state & federal employment law; solid computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; good communication and presentation skills; detailed oriented, and well organized.


High energy for fast paced environment. Client engagement and patient satisfaction is essential for the success of this role. This is a day shift some weekends and Holidays will be required.

Position Summary

Provides management oversight for Environmental Services non-exempt level staff (client and/or Sodexo employees) in the delivery of Sodexo Environmental Service Programs. Ensures Sodexo Operating Standards for Environmental Service are in place as required to consistently meet all company, client, and regulatory requirements. Responsible for non-exempt work force planning through effective scheduling, development of daily work flow assignments, training and development, and monitoring for compliance to the plan.Key Duties-Establishes a safe work environment for clients, customers and staff by ensuring equipment safety and compliance with Sodexo safety and loss prevention programs and by providing safety-related training and equipment inventory maintenance.-Provide leadership and direction to non-exempt employees-Coordinate/conduct employee training-Administer Human Resource processes (hiring, performance reviews, constructive counseling, prepare work schedules, payroll, etc.)-Interact with outside vendors-Ensure Sodexo Operating Standards for Environmental Service are in place and consistently met.-Develop/implement action plans for improvement in compliance with Sodexo Operating Standards as identified. -Reviews and maintains assigned areas of the Sodexo/Client budget commitments.
