Position Purpose: S&K Federal Services, LLC is seeking a Safety Specialist VI for a Technical Support Services contract with the Department of Energy (DOE) Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center. The position is located at Energy Technology Engineering Center, Santa Susanna Field Laboratory in Simi Valley, CA. The Safety Specialist VI provides technical support related to Occupational Safety Programs and Integrated Safety Management Systems at DOE sites.
Technical Support Services
+ Review contractor Worker Safety & Health Program (WSHP) and implementing procedures, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and work packages;
+ Review of site and contractor ISM Programs;
+ Assist in the review of annual site ISM Declarations;
+ Assist in the preparation of annual site ISM Declarations as requested;
+ Assist in the assessment of Small Site and SLA ISM Programs;
+ Assist in the review of Small Site and SLA Occupational Safety Programs;
+ Assist in the assessment of Small Site and SLA Occupational Safety Programs;
+ Review of site and contractor Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) Programs;
+ Assist in the review of annual site SCWE Program surveys and assessments; and
+ Assist in the assessment of Small Site and SLA SCWE Programs.
+ Prepare and present reports and briefings as necessary.
+ Participate in periodic required training.
Doctorate Degree in a technical field such as Engineering and a minimum of 20 years of experience; or Master's Degree and 25 years of experience; or Bachelor's Degree and 30 years of experience.
+ Must have certification in one or more of the following: Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Senior Technical Safety Manager, or equivalent.
+ Experience in some or all of the following are preferred:
+ Experience with DOE, NRC, waste management, Heavy Equipment, D&D;
+ Experience with soil and groundwater remediation projects;
+ Experience with nuclear facilities.
+ Direct experience in safety management (ISM); occupational safety program implementation and oversight; and nuclear safety programs is desired.
License, Cert or Registration:
+ Must have current drivers' license.
+ Must have proof of U.S. citizenship.
+ Must be able to obtain and retain a US Government security clearance.
Special knowledge, skills & abilities:
+ Must possess an excellent understanding of technical issues and be able to communicate them effectively verbally and in writing.
+ Must be able to draft professional quality correspondence, reports, briefings, and other communications.
+ Must be able to communicate effectively before groups of senior-level customers in the DOE and within the company.
+ Must be able to successfully perform advanced mathematical functions as required.
+ Must have demonstrable fluency with computers, software, and general office equipment.
+ Must demonstrate and be able to apply common sense when carrying out written or verbal instructions.
+ Must possess problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Must be able to multitask, prioritize daily work schedule so that production goals are met, and adapt to changing requirements.
