Oregon Cherry Growers, a subsidiary of Pacific Coast Producers, one of the nations top food production companies, is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to support its cherry processing facility located in Salem, Oregon. Primary responsibilities of this position are the development and implementation of the corporate safety and health programs, including sourcing and/or developing and delivering corporate training programs across a broad range of topics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform tasks related to safety and health policies, and programs that fully comply with regulatory requirements. Coordinate and develop safety, health, and regulatory training programs; developing safety curriculum for all positions. Organize, update and document Alchemy paperless training and Playbook Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Oregon facilities. Responsible for weekly & monthly safety reporting for all Oregon facilities. Work with employees and managers to design and improve work areas for employees to prevent occupational risks to injury or illness and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Assist Shipping manager with Lift Truck Operator (LTO) training & certifications. Facilitate and document safety committee meetings; works with the committee members to enhance the overall programs and ensure that corrective actions are completed in a timely manner. Review plant documentation to insure all required onsite records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures. Coordinate the Accident/Incident Investigation process; assists managers in investigation & documentation. Regularly conducts internal safety audits. Inspects safety and process equipment such as ladders, Lock out Tag Out (LOTO) and lighting. Monitor Chemical Hygiene Plan for lab. Complete EC-1 and EC-2 Quarterly Environmental documentation. Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee practices through site visits, safety plans, and education. Coordinate annual Hearing Testing & First Aid/CPR/BBP/AED training programs. Develop new hire orientation program with a focus on safety culture and including site awareness, setting of expectations, education and personal accountability. Conduct new hire orientation for all Salem team members. Ensure safety boards, equipment and site-specific materials are supplied. Reinforce safety awareness in a manner that promotes cooperation and improved morale. Create a working atmosphere that promotes openness and a high level of enthusiasm and morale in the facility. Create One Point Lessons (OPLs) as needed for assigned facility. Facilitate and update Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library. Perform other duties as assigned. Desired Qualifications Ideal candidate would possess an Associates degree in a technical field; with 3+ years of experience working in a safety & training function. (experience in food processing plants a plus) Knowledge of state OSHA safety regulations and requirements. Experience in developing and delivering comprehensive safety training programs. Ability to work with employees and managers to address safety issues within the work environment. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize work. Possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels in a manufacturing environment. (Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus) Ability to travel between facilities within Oregon. Demonstrates proficient computer skills in MS office suite; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills. Physical Requirements Frequent physical activity includes sitting, walking, using a keyboard, touching, hearing, and speaking.Moderate physical activity includes standing, stooping, lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
