The position requires work planning, coordination of work, scheduling and delivery of high quality complex mechanical equipment designs. Fully responsible for the independent development of complete three dimensional/solid model designs including concepts/layouts, analysis models, design basis studies, final design production drawings required for manufacturing. An understanding of configuration control in the design process and database management of components and assemblies. Functional areas include but are not limited to: Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Reactor Plant Systems and components, Reactor Plant Arrangements, Piping, Test Equipment and Reactor Servicing and associated equipment design. Complete calculations pertaining to fit of components and assemblies in mechanical systems. Develop Alignment and Tolerance Studies to ensure that equipment function properly if manufactured and assemble to the worst case tolerance conditions. Accurately interpret instructions from engineers and others and apply mechanical design standards to designs striving for zero defects. Provide leadership, mentoring and direction for other designer personnel through effective communication skills.
Job Requirements Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design, Mechanical/Industrial Technology Degree or Equivalent. Seven Years professional technical experience in Mechanical Design. Proficient in the application of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Demonstrated success in work planing, scheduling and coordination of resources in a teaming independent environment. Computer Aided Design - highly complex three dimensional modeling experience.
Job Preferred Skills Positive academic trend in mathematical and physical science course work. Working knowledge of ASME and Government standards, conventions and procedures. Demonstrated ability to research assignments and develop highly complex mechanical designs using three dimensional solid models and creating detail and assembly drawings. Demonstrated understanding of configuration control of designs and database management. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment. Demonstrated leadership abilities including ability to mentor and experience in providing technical oversight of others on multiple projects concurrently. Demonstrated ability to provide high level of customer service.
