The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking Electrical Engineers to join our newest design project. You will be part of a team of engineers defining the instrumentation and control, propulsion, and electrical power systems for the next naval nuclear propulsion platform. This position will give you the the opportunity to apply and grow your skills developing these systems that provide power for, monitor, and control the reactor plant.

Typical responsibilities for this position include system concept generation and evaluation, development of system functional requirements, defining concepts of operations, and determining approaches for implementing system functions with available technology. Activities such as planning, designing, modeling, documenting, and testing will be needed. Integration of the electrical work with the broader reactor plant design team (including mechanical and nuclear organizations) is required and you will be working closely with these other disciplines.

As an Associate or Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for your own cognizant area of the project, but also be supported by a team including more experienced engineers. You will be able to improve your skills through challenging work assignments, mentoring, and an in-house training program.

Job Requirements

Associate:

  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university

  • Intermediate:

  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or

  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university

  • Job Preferred Skills

    Strong written communication skills with an ability to articulate technical ideas in a clear and concise manner.

    Strong interpersonal and verbal communication will be essential in the candidate's ability to contribute effectively in a teaming environment.

    Demonstrated leadership skills through previous work and/or academic experience.
