The successful candidate will play an integral role in the design, testing, deployment, and support of critical instrumentation and control (I&C) systems and components used for shipboard (VIRGINIA Class Submarine) reactor plants. These I&C systems perform reactor protection and control safety critical functions, demanding the highest degree of quality and reliability.

Typical roles & responsibilities include:

  • Becoming the subject matter expert on design, operation, and maintenance for assigned system(s)
  • Designing the system level requirements for design changes and modifications for assigned system(s)
  • Applying expertise to troubleshoot and resolve fleet issues associated with assigned system(s) in a timely manner
  • Developing and implementing modifications to equipment in laboratory test facilities and Fleet
  • Developing technical recommendations and reports, usually requiring integration across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Obtaining necessary qualifications for hands on laboratory-based work to develop test/operating procedures and performing laboratory testing of equipment to verify technical adequacy and ensure robustness of design
  • Working on diverse assignments that support career growth
  • Job Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited college or university required
  • Job Preferred Skills

  • Strong written communication skills with an ability to articulate technical ideas in a clear & concise manner

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication that will be essential in the candidate's ability to contribute effectively in a teaming environment

  • Demonstrated leadership skills through previous work and/or academic experience

  • Technical Internship/Co-op experience

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Specific coursework and/or experience in microprocessor-based equipment, power electronics, and/or control systems.

  • Experience in writing technical reports
