Description : The National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) at Carnegie Mellon University has an open position for a Lead Mechanical Engineer. This position involves: Applying complex and diverse engineering work requiring depth and breadth of technical knowledge, experience in systems engineering, and leadership Planning, designing, and implementing engineering projects Developing, assessing, and tracking requirements through practical system development approaches Leading large-scale design and prototyping of complex electromechanical systems and robotics Leading in-depth analysis and simulation efforts Leading the design and execution of experiments and field tests Leading teams of engineers and mentoring junior engineers Engaging with and managing industrial and government sponsors. Your primary responsibilities include: Lead the development of complex mechanical systems and robotics. Conceptualize, develop, analyze, and synthesize mechanical solutions to automation and robotization applications Develop CAD models of mechanical assemblies for prototyping and manufacturing Lead, guide, and engage with engineering teams in the design, analysis, engineering, testing, and validation of advanced mechanical systems and robotics Manage the relationship with commercial and US government customers Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 5 or more years design process experience or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineeringplus 10 or more years design process experience Effective problem solving, organizational, planning, project management, public speaking and analytical skills Some technical writing experience required Demonstrated leadership skills CAD design software experience (SolidWorks preferred) Valid driver's license We especially want to hear from you if you have experience or qualifications in ANY of the following areas: Experience with SolidWorks CAD software Experience with Finite Element Analysis Software Opportunities people at NREC have seized: As a member of NREC, you have the opportunity to take control of your career.
