Electrical Engineer - PDXLocation:Portland, ORJob Category:EngineeringEmployment Classification:Full TimeDescriptionSummaryContributes electrical design and development expertise as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers focused on developing cutting edge technology in an innovative and fast paced environment. As an EE designs, develops, documents, modifies and evaluates electronic assemblies, components, and circuit boards for ESI's electronic equipment and systems by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign analog and mixed signal circuit boardsPrepare system interconnect drawings and schematicsWork with a cross functional team to determine design requirements and parametersAnalyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate resultsSelect components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliabilityAnalyze data to determine feasibility of a product proposalDirect and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype product or systemBOM construction/maintenance and ECOsAnalyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specificationsComplete complex tasks on schedule with minimal supervision while delivering quality outputUse computer assisted engineering and design software to develop, simulate, and test electronic designsWork collaboratively with all organizational functionsConsult with customers and field service personnel concerning field issues of performance and reliabilityOther duties may be assignedEducation and ExperienceBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent2+ years of related industry experienceRequired Skills and AbilitiesStrong analog, mixed signal, and RF board level design skillsExperience designing circuits for low level current and voltage measurement applicationsLab equipment experience (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, LCR meter, etc.)Knowledge of EMI/EMC design requirements and testingStrong problem solving skills and accountability to drive issues to closureAbility to succeed in a fast paced, technically challenging, and multi-disciplinary team environment Strong interpersonal and communication skillsWe are interested in a qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Preferred Skills and AbilitiesSystem level design, integration, and testing experienceExperience developing LCR meters, precision power supplies, and other sensitive measurement equipmentKnowledge and experience in electromagnetics, Fourier transform, signal integrity, waveform synthesis, and RF power amplifiersExperience with lasers, electro-optical components, and laser measurement equipment (power meters, probes, beam profilers, pulse detectors, photo detectors, PSDs, interferometers, AODs, etc.)FPGA development experience using Verilog and/or VHDLFamiliar with digital controls theoryFamiliar with machinery regulatory requirements (CE, Semi, etc.)Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
