Responsible as a member of a dynamic team to provide site safety specialist support through leadership in the identification and resolution of safety related problems. Responsible for safety and health compliance with state and federal regulations and other related safety and health standards. Interface with a diverse group of customers, including process and project engineering, operations, maintenance, plant management, and outside regulatory agencies. Provide day to day field support to help drive safety behaviors and provide technical support as needed.
Roles & Responsibilities
Provide routine field support to assigned areas of the Complex with a high visibility and interaction with the key groups across the Bayport Complex which includes Operations, Maintenance, and Contractors.
Provides technical support to achieve compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
Provides expertise and knowledge of health, safety and emergency response and acts as a resource to personnel across the Bayport Complex.
Key focus areas of responsibility include but not limited to:
Identifying and driving improvements to existing HS (Health and Safety programs)
Support and Contractor Host for Complex Security Provider
Leads and guides continuous improvement in the Health, Safety, and Environmental culture
Participates and leads site HS teams
Support Site VPP certification preparation
Audits HS programs and field compliance
Identifies, develops, coordinates and executes HS related training
Participate in safety meeting delivery and GZ contractor orientations.
Provides mentoring and direction to site employees including contractors
Representing the location with regulatory contacts
Participating in community organizations and demonstrating business-oriented behavior in decision making
Implementing cost effective compliance
This position may provide work direction or serve as a liaison with 3rd party contractors and service. This position functions with minimal day to day supervision.
Demonstrates innovation, Drives for Results, Interpersonal Capability, and Knowledge of Regulatory/Company Management Systems.
Provides shift coverage as needed for outages and turnarounds
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 (five) years' experience in the petrochemical industry.
Experience working in the field of Occupational Safety preferred
Must have the ability to independently perform key functions in assigned areas of responsibility and be proficient with office computer systems (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
The candidate must have excellent verbal skills and effectively communicate with personnel at all organizational levels.
Must effectively lead and actively participate in groups and teams to accomplish work objectives.
Must be able to foster relationships with co-workers that are conducive to timely completion of stated objectives.
Working knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administrations (OSHA) regulations and how they are applied in a petrochemical environment.
Must be at least 18 years of age and must be legally authorized to work in the United States (US) on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship.
