Job Description

  • The Corporate Safety Specialist reports to the Head of Safety. This role is critical to driving safety excellence. Effectively implement and assist with developing the Corporate safety management system. Champions operational excellence by showing employees and organizational leaders how their actions connect to the company safety vision and create long term value. The candidate will participate in strategic planning, track metrics, provide leadership guidance and training, drive continuous improvement of the company's safety management system.
  • Job Responsibilities:

  • Attends work on a regular and predictable basis
  • Able to work independently within a dynamic organization
  • Completes timely investigations of employee incidents and injuries, including vehicle accidents
  • Track and analyze key operational and performance metrics
  • Interacts and builds strong working relationships with functional partners including Safety, Legal, 3rd party insurance, field staff and corporate management as necessary
  • Conducts employee interviews and assigns training and education as needed
  • Assist in the development of procedures to comply with all government safety and corporate safety programs, e.g., energy control, confined space, emergency evacuation and fire drill, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, powered industrial trucks, contractor safety, and other programs
  • Ensure facilities are keeping accident records and completed reports required by law and company policy, including first aid and near miss reports, accident investigation, etc.
  • Attend safety conferences and seminars to improve safety knowledge and skills
  • Willing to travel at 50 - 75% of the time, depending on workload
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications:

  • Interpersonal skills to engage at all levels to build rapport throughout the organization
  • Strong influencing skills with the courage to confidently express an independent point of view
  • Experience in educating managers in the Health & Safety area. (OSHA, EPA, FDA, DOT, etc. regulations)
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral
  • Detail-oriented - excellent organizational skills
  • Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental or related science field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years (1-3) years Health & Safety experience
  • Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties for this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk to hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
