Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM's Tech Re-Entry program is looking for talented technical professionals who are looking to restart their technical careers after an absence from the workforce of 24 months or more. This paid apprenticeship will enable you to work on projects that match your expertise, interests, and abilities and could lead to full-time employment. During your IBM Tech Re-Entry apprenticeship program, you will have the opportunity to update your skills in a contemporary work environment. You will have access to the latest tools and technologies available and work alongside a multi-disciplinary teams to hone your expertise and deliver on client-critical solutions. You'll be able to experience the breadth of IBM resources while developing new skills and relationships.

Re-Entry hires participate in ~6 month apprenticeships to refresh skills and prepare for transition to full time opportunities. The experience provides personalized technical learning to update and gain additional skills; earning badges and credentials along the way.

The position is in the IBM Systems segment that supports IBM Systems Power sales. The primary mission of this group is to support the needs of our IBM tech sellers, Business Partners & ISVs in their efforts to sell IBM Systems hardware and software. The Client Experience Center offers the latest IBM Systems technology and works with various Applications from Cognitive/AI to Oracle to SAP HANA to Client specific/ISV applications.

The Power Team Lead candidate should possess a strong technical foundation coupled with strong leadership skills.

Leadership Skills/Responsibilities:

* Track/manage technical resource allocation for workload balancing
* Identify skill gaps/opportunTechnical Skills:
* Understanding/experience of provisioning, orchestration and automation tools ie.. Ansible, OpenStack, MaaS, BPM, other
* Familiarity with containers (Kubernetes and Docker)
* Familiarity with RedHat Software family (Ceph Storage, RHEV (RedHat Enterprise Virtualization), RedHat JBOSS, etc)
* System Virtualization knowledge/skills: Linux KVM , PowerVM, VMWare, VIO
* Scripting Skills (bash and other)
* Python, Java or other programming capabilities
* Linux, AIX, & Windows administration
* Experience with Opensource products (git repositories, build/compile, ..)
* API fundamentals
* Cloud infrastructure and computing concepts
* Understanding/fundamentals of Ethernet/TCPIP networking
* SAN and IP storage fundamentals
* Filesystem fundamentals
* Troubleshooting / root cause analysis

* Proficient in use of MS Office Suite

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science for education/expansion

* Create Training plans to train/develop skills to ensure client success
* Identify/assign technical build admin
* Create/drive hardware infrastructure upgrade plans
* Ensure user support requests are addressed in a timely & complete manner
* Address/communicate issues
* Status Power Manager on issues/opportunities/risks
* Suggest/implement technical tool/process improvements/updates
* Create/maintain written documentation
* Ensure all security updates are kept current & drive exceptions
* Host Regular Team Meetings

In order to qualify for this apprenticeship, applicant must have been out of the work force for a minimum of 2 years
