Role Summary:As the Plant Electrical Engineer you will be a key contributor to the C&DT COE organization. You will design and lead execution of Gas Power's technology and product test programs across GT, ST, Generator as well as cross-GE business test campaigns. You will perform engineering, upgrades, operations and maintenance of technology, tests and facilities, and responsible for safe operations, maintenance and upgrades of the STL electrical test, facilities and infrastructure.



Essential Responsibilities:

As the Plant Electrical Engineer you will:







+ Act as a key member of C&DT COE STL team supporting the TL of Test, Technology and Operations. Collaboratively and horizontally lead and support across the extended STL team



+ Lead, maintain, operate and exercise ownership of STL electrical infrastructure (120-480-###-####-4160 VAC, multiple AC transformers, Capacitor bank systems, eUPS and DC related infrastructure systems



+ Lead, maintain, operate and exercise ownership of STL VFD drive systems including Power Conversion, ABB, and TMEIC or future installations.



+ Senior test engineer of electrical test facilities including GADL, Torsional Damper, etc. Support periodic electrical tests in B281 Generator test facility.



+ Support design, application, procurement, upgrade, commissioning and implementation of state of the art electrical and electronic equipment, technologies, test capabilities and systems



+ Resident expert in electrical codes and standards, including interpretation, applicability, partnering with other senior electrical engineers within GE as required



+ Lead and/or support electrical safety training



+ Conduct electrical engineering including, but not limited to Arc Flash, system modeling, selective tripping, protective relay settings, review of electrical test reports, etc.



+ Lead P&E (plant & equipment) upgrades of electrical test capabilities and facilities



+ Maintain test and facilities infrastructure electric related: drawings, LOTO, test procedures, operating procedures and/or other electrical related documentation



+ Perform, subcontract and/or review electrical tests and/or reports including megger, ductor, HiPot, TTR, Phasing, Polarization index, partial discharge, voltage, continuity, resistance, equipment grounding, transformer oil testing, etc...



+ Oversee electrical maintenance or upgrades of GE employees or sub-contractors



+ Own VFD drive system and/or control systems



+ Learn and operate mechanical and balance of plant equipment and systems, supporting test operations



+ Maintain and utilize electrical PPE equipment: inventory, maintain, and wear electrical related PPE up to and including Category IV PPE in periodic conduct of electrical equipment operation



+ Ensure project schedules and budgets are met



+ Lead and mentor engineers, hourly, specialists and/or contractors in execution of projects



+ Train and support development of STL or other GE engineers in electrical engineering and/or safety











Qualifications/Requirements:



+ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Science or Electrical Technology from an accredited College or University



+ Minimum (5) years' experience in electrical industry, facilities, and equipment

+ Controls, PLC, MkVI experience



+ Experience in LEAN



+ Safety 1st headset



+ Strong oral and written communication skills



+ Skillful problem solver and troubleshooter



+ Experience in gas and/or steam turbine technology, laboratory or performance testing



+ Experience with machine train vibration monitoring equipment, control valves, PLC operations, and related software operations



+ Knowledgeable AutoCAD and/or Visio



+ Edison Engineer



+ Progress toward completion of a Master's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and/or ACE Certificate
