Role Summary:The Intermediate Calibration Technician will be responsible for the calibration and checkout of precision instruments used for Thermal Performance Testing on Steam and Gas Turbine generators and acoustic pulse transducers.
As the Intermediate Calibration Technician, you will:
+ Test and calibrate controlling, indicating and measuring instruments and devices, such as pressure transmitters, temperature controls, Thermocouples, RTD's, thermometers and power load measurement devices
+ Read quality control manual and testing specifications to obtain data to test or calibrate specific devices
+ Select and install accessories, such as adapters, indicating gauges, or holding devices, on test or calibration fixture and connect the instrument or device to a lab primary standard
+ Set controls to regulate factors, such as current flow, timing cycle, pressure, temperature or vacuum according to specifications and activate test of calibration equipment
+ Observe readings on meters, gauges and other displays and performance of device or instrument to identify functional defects and determine calibration requirements
+ Adjust calibration mechanisms to obtain specified operational performance of device or instrument, using hand tools and accurate measuring and calibration instruments and equipment
+ Reject malfunctioning devices and routes devices to specified department for rework or salvaging of parts
+ Disassemble instrument or device to determine cause of defective operation and notify supervisory personnel of findings
+ Repair damaged instrumentation
+ Participate in all Quality Systems training and certifications
+ Complete additional responsibilities as assigned
+ Assist in all shipping and receiving of instrumentation
+ Associate's / Vocational degree or equivalent Military Calibration background (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of Calibration experience)
+ Ability and willingness to lift 50 lbs
+ Ability and willingness to work overtime (including weekends)
+ Excellent mechanical and basic algebra skills
+ Familiarity with most calibration equipment and processes (temperature, electrical, humidity)
+ Ability to perform minor electrical repairs on instrumentation
+ Proficiency in Statistics
