In this role you will be responsible for completing complex mechanical designs. Other essential functions include:
Collaborating and adding value through participation in design reviews, providing comments on mechanical design aspects and other engineering areas Evaluating new technologies as they apply to existing functions Participating in project leadership and/or program planning including providing technical input to product development plans and concept documents Making substantial contributions toward determination of project goals/objectives/feasibility Mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced engineers Contributing to advanced technical research on new technologies Independently determining general approach and specific solutions to technical problems Offering process improvement suggestions and authoring new procedures as appropriate Directing and coordinating manufacture of prototypes Mocking up and testing complex mechanical systems to verify compliance with design requirements Possessing good knowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining, etc. Possessing good knowledge of material requirements, material performance, and material limitations Specifying test plans to validate very complex systems with complex performance requirements Managing basic tradeoffs and determine risk mitigation plans as appropriate Making estimates on complex mechanical designs including: tooling, part cost, and design time Assisting with the development of manufacturing plans for packaging integrated circuits (ICs) Assisting with the development of a qualification test plan for ICs Assist with the design and development of custom equipment for manufacturing, testing and qualifying ICs Qualified candidates possess a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience OR a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Aerospace Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.
