Position Summary: The Senior Designer is part of the mechanical engineering team responsible for supporting research and development and sustaining engineering activities at NxStage.The position supports the design and documentation of electro-mechanical and disposable products and processes.This includes maintaining the CAD system, supporting document control, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, Marketing, and Product Management. Responsibilities: Conduct mechanical, disposable, and electro-mechanical design activities in support of NxStage's product development process Maintain CAD and product data management systems Support and contribute to on-going process and procedure development as well as other improvement initiatives Provide design and documentation support for product development and manufacturing. Support document control as required. Hands on support for design evaluation as required. Manage Engineering Change Orders as required. Generate tolerance and functional analysis for all NxStage Medical products. Initiate and support rapid design and evaluation of prototypes as required. Be the initial point of contact for supplier questions related to product design Support engineering program leads as required Develop images as required by engineering, marketing and others. Requirements: Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineer 10+ years of experience in all phases of product development of medical devices. Understanding of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical principles as they apply to machine design. Experience designing for multiple manufacturing processes including but not limited to, machining, injection molding, sheet metal, cabling, and PCBA fabrication. 7+ years of Solidworks experience. Proficiency in creating tolerance studies Proficiency in supporting engineering analysis Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with Solidworks PDM preferred. An expert in CAD system Maintenance and Model / Drawing control Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Experience working in a regulated environment Experience in process and product development of medical devices is preferred.
