Position SummaryThisposition is part of a team responsible for Environmental, Health, Safety, andTransportation of Hazardous Material activities at a major complex offacilities or manages a program area as a member of the Global safety orenvironmental teams.Key Roles & Responsibilities* Develops and implements EHSprograms as necessary to ensure compliance, meet standards of the company ESMS,and positive movement against EHS KPI's. Works with EAS colleagues as well asbusiness partners to implement programs at multiple sites (Global EAS staff) orto target needs at their assigned site (site EAS staff).* Participates as a memberconducting internal audits or participates as a member of a site beingaudited. Assists with follow up andclosure of actions items from audits.* Conducts surveys of siteoperations and provides detailed recommendations for hazard elimination orcontrol with limited supervision.* Develops and delivers assignedenvironmental, health and safety training. Update training in response to newlegal requirements or changes at the sites; helps ensure training is relevantfor the site(s).* May approve trainers and theirtraining materials prior to them providing legal and other requirementstraining.* Assists in the preparation ofperformance reports either individually for their site (as site EAS staff) orcollectively as member of the Global EAS staff.* Reviews information sources fornew and/or changes to existing relevant laws, rules and regulations, andnotifies management as appropriate.* Reviews capital projects forenvironmental and safety impact, and advises project team leaders asappropriate. May participate as a memberof a capital project team.* May participate in and respond toregulatory inquiries and inspections of an environmental, health, safety natureor transportation of hazardous materials with support and supervision.* Provides technical expertise tosite management and/or advises EAS colleagues in EHS areas to ensure compliancewith regulations and the implementation of programs targeted towards theprevention of injuries and the reduction of our environmental footprint.* Supports the Hazardous MaterialTransportation Program maintained by the Traffic, Export and or distributiondepartment.* Manages the permitting processthrough the timely processing of all required permits with limitedsupervision.* Support and provide coaching toemployee-led teams such as Safety Committees, Green Teams, and Behavior-BasedSafety Teams.* Maintains competency and stayscurrent in the profession of Environmental, Health, Safety, and theTransportation of Hazardous Materials.* Participatesas a member of a Global Process Owner (GPO) group focused on a particularprogram area to drive enhancements and consistency across ELC.* Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree inEnvironmental Science or Safety Science, or* Bachelors in Engineering or other Science/Technology. with 5years' experience in the field of Environmental Affairs, or Safety, or Health,or Transportation of Hazardous Materials.* 3-5 years experience inthe area of environmental, safety, or industrial hygiene preferably inmanufacturing operations* Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team in diversework environments from manufacturing, distribution, labs, offices and retail.* Excellent presentation and communication skills. Ability to adjustcommunication style based on the situation and the audience.* Knows and uses fundamental and some advanced concepts, practicesand procedures of particular field of specialization. Ability to understand andcommunicate technical environmental and safety requirements to both EAS staffand our business partners.* Grade 10 staff are generally part of an EAS staff with directoversight but need the ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to implement tested concepts isrequired. Self-motivation, ingenuity and ability to drive best practicethinking is needed* Fluent in MS Word, Excel, Access and Power Point applications.* Prefer if either hold Certified SafetyProfessional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or similardesignations, or be working towards such certification.Posted by StartWire.
