Staff Engineer, Mechanical Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

The Heat Exchanger Group at United Technologies Aerospace Systems Engine & Environmental Control Systems is seeking an Experienced Heat Exchanger Design Engineer.

The successful candidate will:

Use fundamentals of component mechanical design including Mechanics, Strength of Materials & Material Properties to size components and integral connections for the requirements of the internal/external customer of a plate/fin, shell/tube, flat plate or additive manufactured heat exchanger.

Education Section:

  • BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering)

Preferred Education:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications Sections:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years with mechanical engineering or 5 years with mechanical engineering and a advance mechanical engineering degree
  • Ability to understand Finite Element Analysis tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with structural and mechanical design of plate fin heat exchangers or similar components.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication, brazing, and welding techniques.
  • Ability to manage parallel responsibilities and meet schedule commitments.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing definition and tolerances.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written form.
  • Excellent English writing skills including the ability to write clear and thorough stress report
  • Ability to understand code/script tools (Python, MatLab, VB, etc.)
