Reporting to the Sr. Construction Manager, the Energy Projects Coordinator will be responsible for managing an array of progressive building improvement projects within occupied federal facilities. As a construction management agent, this individual works closely with the owner, prime contractor, building managers and facility users to successfully implement Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) related to electrical (lighting), HVAC, building automation, and irrigation system upgrades. Each project location presents unique challenges for the protection of sensitive artifacts and historic building elements during the performance of the work. This position is responsible for facilitating, administering, monitoring and documenting progress of building system improvement projects across multiple sites. Because the facilities are fully occupied and open to the public, most project work will be performed during OFF-DUTY HOURS within the timeframe of 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The Energy Projects Coordinator will be a primary contributor to the success of individual projects within the owners overall building energy improvement program.
Primary Responsibilities Observe and inspect construction work to ensure technical and physical security integrity. Coordinate and manage project delivery tasks related to work planning/coordination, quantity assessment, work plan adherence, schedule monitoring, quality assurance, and field issue resolution. Facilitate and document site-based coordination meetings with the client, end users and contractor. Monitor work, track quantities and document performance of retrofit installations per approved schedules. Identify and address safety, schedule performance and/or quality concerns. Apply best practices and client processes to each stage of project development. Interpret construction documents and certify that work is performed in accordance with approved plans. Administer the submittal and RFI process for assigned projects. Utilize e-Builder to centrally record, track and report project status information. Contribute progress updates and performance metrics to monthly briefings.*Additional vacancy in Culpepper, VA*
Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
Five (5) years work experience related to building design or construction. Working knowledge of construction methods, building systems, safety and quality control processes. Ability to work within the off-duty hours time frame of 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM Building operations and maintenance experience Hands-on electrical/lighting, low voltage, and/or building automation system experience, Experience with oversight of or performance on federal or institutional building modernization projects.
