We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic future-minded Solutions Engineers. Passion and know-how around new energy, energy technology and projects is a must. The Solutions Engineer is a key member of DE&P's Business Development organization, a lean team responsible for supporting a broad range of distributed energy solutions such Combined Heat and Power, Back Up Power, Solar, Microgrids and Energy Storage. The Sales Engineer will ideally support a range of business development professionals in proposal generation, evaluating and analyzing projects.
Developing best-in-class concepts and proposals for behind the meter, large scale energy projects
Supporting Business Development Managers with Centrica Business Solutions offerings persistently and confidently to all members of the commercial and industrial industry including contractors, consultants and facilities managers
Addresses customer's operational and environmental objectives, needs and requirements. Recommends solutions and links customer objectives to total value solution and competitive advantage. Differentiate Centricas services and products from competitors by applying creativity, ingenuity, and innovation in a value-added sales approach
Positively and credibly influences (DE&P) strategies with the construction community. Frequently creates competitive, high quality and timely estimates, proposals, and cost/benefit analysis.
Effectively writes and presents proposals
Utilizing applicable sales tools effectively to plan and document progress as well as increase business opportunity in accounts. Leverages Centricas sales process to close sales quickly. Manages the high activity of the pipeline in the managed system with a focus on sales phase, close date, and probability of a close as well as other pertinent information
This position places you at the intersection of business development and cutting-edge energy platforms. You be working directly with senior managers and directors in a global organization:
Undertake customer site visits and walkthroughs; technically identifying and summarizing the onsite energy equipment, electrical and mechanical equipment (including but not limited to control panels, central plant and heating / cooling systems)
Gather information from the customer regarding their power usage, natural gas usage and thermal needs, supported by customer and utility load information and bills
Gather information from customer regarding their facilities, including where available general layout diagrams, one-line electrical diagrams and P&IDs
Gather information from the customer regarding their energy needs, resiliency needs, sustainability goals and energy spend (in partnership with business development)
Create well thought through, high level energy project concepts (including but not limited to Combined Heat and Power, Back Up Power, Solar, Microgrids and Energy Storage) with approximate sizing, estimated costing and indicative savings analysis and business case (in partnership with internal and external resources)
Convert leads into opportunities by assigning the appropriate sales process, identifying the required project team members, making assignments, and communicating the next steps in the process
Develops relationships with multiple buying influences in the customers organization, including project managers, project engineers, construction, purchasing, and accounts payable
Assists customers in answering technical questions on various systems, system application alternatives, building automation systems, installation, operation, maintenance, and problem resolution
Determines project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all the customers system design and installation requirements
Responsible for project take-off, selection, pricing, and integration of equipment, controls, and services
Determines needs, develops and executes an account specific business plan to identify the long term, mutual support requirements required to facilitate a strong, profitable and successful partnership
Competencies and Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills with desire to impact organization revenue through sales
Strong goal orientation, highly motivated, and possess a strong desire to sell industry leading products in the market place.
Minimum 5 - 10 years experience in relevant industries (energy, facilities)
Minimum 1 - 2 years experience in distributed energy environment
Smart and motivated, with ability to quickly process project information
Experience in onsite energy efficiency audits, onsite energy generation projects
Preference for candidates with experience in facility, electrical and mechanical equipment in a commercial and industrial setting
Preference for candidates with power and energy industry technical domain knowledge, including wholesale power market operations and products, utility/grid automation systems, demand response management, meter data management and distributed energy resource management
