Centrica Business Solutions (CBS) is a global business unit within Centrica, set with the mission to help customers discover and unlock value via the energy-consuming and existing or new energy-producing assets on their sites. In North America, we design build and manage projects from small to large scale in the distributed energy spectrum. We have existing and forthcoming solutions for which we provide development, engineering, and construction services to deliver products and projects across North America for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers wishing to reduce energy consumption and/or generate energy.

CBS North America is seeking a top performing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) leader that will be responsible for leading an O&M team to ensure customer satisfaction and fleet health at effective operating costs. This person will be responsible for building out and growing the O&M function, ensuring customer and system cases are handled expediently at good cost. This individual will also be responsible for developing a network of service providers to ensure proper customer coverage, develop relationships with equipment manufacturers and with installers for warranty obligations, and work across the company to ensure resolution for customer issues. The leader will offer critical partnership to Product Development, Delivery and Customer Success functions & leaders. In addition, this individual will work closely with Financial Planning, Financial Controls, and other internal teams to ensure appropriate project financials. This person will work as required with external experts and third-party partners on technical accounting and energy incentives to ensure CBS is reviewing and delivering financial results for capital projects. Additionally, the candidate is responsible for all leadership aspects of their eventual team including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities and monitoring and summarizing progress . The leader also must further develop and foster strong relationships throughout the organization and with our suppliers including equipment vendors and engineering support.

Duties and Responsibilities

Lead and develop an O&M platform across multiple distributed energy platforms

Ensure rapid and effective resolution of O&M cases

Manage customer satisfaction and case resolution

Ensure service provider coverage and cost effectiveness

Partner with various leaders to develop distributed energy implementation strategies

Introduce quality management methodologies and statistical process control methods to manage performance, improve processes effectiveness, and drive root cause

Promote productivity and teamwork between all areas of the business unit with open communication, timely decision making, and use of personal leadership skills to set lofty standards of performance while providing the direction necessary to achieve that performance

Develop new tools and processes to improve reviews and increase efficiency

Other tasks assigned from time to time, including report and presentation development, presentations to management, and helping train and develop team

Qualifications:

Proven track record of developing O&M strategies

5 to 10 years of experience in leadership roles over teams engaged in resolving customer problems

Fundamental working knowledge of distributed energy fundamentals

Knowledge of Solar, CHP and Energy Storage platforms

Knowledge of operations-related engineering issues for Solar, CHP and Energy Storage platforms

Knowledge of financial markets, instruments, structures and sources

Deep experience working in a large/global company with matrix structure/relationships

Strategic thinking and ability to identify market potential for significant business growth

Quick study; capable of grasping the structure & intricacies of the energy business & markets

Sound understanding of both commodity and non-commodity based energy products

Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

Experience with Salesforce a plus; experience with SQL and other database technologies

Experience with quality management methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean, TQM, etc.)

University degree (business, economics, engineering preferred)

MBA or financial equivalent preferred
