The Retort Operator monitors the heat and pressure for the sterilization of food products.
Essential Job Duties:
* Load carts of product into retorts for the sterilization process. * Unload completed retort carts and stage product for post retort packaging in specifically designated areas. * Continuously monitor cook times and critical information for each retort cycle. * Record all required process information either manually or electronically. * Report any process deviation in real time. * Review and confirm all critical factors are met for each cycle (chart & retort log). * Actively participate in new hire and ongoing training in order to thoroughly understand and execute all retort controls and operations. * Actively participate in new hire and ongoing training in order to thoroughly understand and execute all retort controls and operations.
* Previous Food Manufacturing experience handling raw materials preferred. * Must demonstrate strong mechanical and basic computer skills. * Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions and processes, legibly complete documentation paperwork, and comply with all company GMPs and SOPs. * Excellent work ethic and communication skills, with the ability to work both individually and as a contributing member of a team. * Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced, quickly changing environment.

* Manual loading and unloading retort cart is required. Able to perform various physical activities such as heavy lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 50 lbs. * Employee will be exposed to variable air temperatures, high locations, vibration. This position requires the operator to work and communicate in an environment with moving mechanical parts and loud noise. * Able to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods of time. * Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. * Display good hand/eye coordination and ability to bend, climb, twist, reach, and grasp. * Vision abilities include: close, distant, and color vision.
