Position Overview

As a Low Voltage Technician you will working under the guidance of a Lead or Senior Lead. Your main responsibilities will be providing skilled maintenance, installations, additions, and/or repair and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems, associated materials and equipment on any type project.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lay out work and preps materials for installation.
  • Perform overhead and underground layout and rough-in.
  • Terminate all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair and Category 3 through 6.
  • Measure, cut, bend, assemble and install cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools.
  • Assemble and install relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields and associated components.
  • Perform fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types.
  • Perform structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
  • Correctly set up and operate copper and fiber optic testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust,and resolve problems in structured cabling systems.
  • Operate any power and hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
  • Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
  • Meet attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.
  • Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' of experience of on the job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Technician level.
  • Must have a current Drivers License, and own reliable transportation.
  • High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.
  • Work Environment and Physical Demands

    This position requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses always), respirator when required. Able to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, constantly moving about on the feet and able to routinely lift heavy objects more than 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers. Must be able to complete a full day of assignments involving overhead work. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job. Possess good vision, normal or corrected and positively identify different colors of wiring. Works in single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
