Description

Reporting to the Process Safety Senior Director, the Process Safety Director will provide leadership in developing and implementing globally consistent process safety programs, practices, tools and processes. This position will develop and implement risk-based standards that drive consistent process safety performance in order to appropriately protect Cargill employees, contractors, neighbors, and the environment.

The Process Safety Director, in collaboration with other members of the business and operations supply chain function will be responsible for identifying process safety risks, evaluating the quality of the corporate control program and tools and deploying a globally consistent approach to common processes that will build the necessary competencies and zero harm culture.

This position will be a Corporate Subject Matter Expert with mastery knowledge of Ammonia Refrigeration risks and industry leading practices for management of these risks. The Process Safety Manager applies mastery knowledge of Ammonia Refrigeration to define, develop and deploy corporate standards for the management of Ammonia Refrigeration processes. This position is accountable for the continuous improvement of the Corporate process safety standards, monitoring the risk profile of our Ammonia Refrigeration processes, leading a community of Ammonia Refrigeration process safety practitioners, educating operations and businesses leaders about the risks of their processes, reviewing process risk assessments, and investigating significant process safety events.

Work with Process Safety Senior Director to establish strategic direction for Process safety programs

Organize and participate in work stream sub groups in the development and improvement of the corporate Process safety control programs, practices, tools, training and assessments

Update and revise standards in order to implement leading process safety and Ammonia Refrigeration practices and continue leading in this practice area. Apply mastery knowledge of process safety and Ammonia Refrigeration systems to lead the continuous improvement of the corporate standards.

25% Corporate Technical Safety Director for Ammonia Refrigeration and and continuous improvements of standards

Provide technical, regulatory and strategic consultation, support, and training on the Process safety standards and tools to support groups and sites as they integrate process safety practices, tools and requirements within their operations

Apply mastery knowledge of Ammonia Refrigeration to provide technical, regulatory and strategic consultation, support, and training on the standards and tools to support the manufacturing technology leaders as the standards are integrated into the manufacturing technologies

Using expert knowledge, to design and deliver guidance and training solutions related to Process safety practices.

Develop programs and tools to evaluate level of compliance and effectiveness to BOSC process safety standards

Develop and execute Stakeholder Management processes

  • Develop and execute ongoing change, communication, and education activities

    As the corporate SME for Ammonia Refrigeration systems, participate in external organizations establishing leading practices for Ammonia Refrigeration (technical area).

    Consult on the process safety leadership team for continuous improvement of the corporate process safety standards including all related programs, practices, processes, tools, training, and communication.

    Monitor data sets, performance metrics, measurement, analytics and provide periodic reporting on results.

    Establish key Process safety metrics and provide ongoing analysis and reporting to BOSC, Enterprise, and corporate Leadership

    Create and lead a compliance audit/assessment plan to monitor process safety standards.

    Organize culture scans as the Cargill zero harm culture develops

    Frequently benchmark internally and externally to identify leading practices that support Process safety improvement and can be applied effectively

    Qualifications

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    BS degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 10+ years experience working in Engineering, technical operations, project management and/or process safety management.

    Minimum 3 years management/supervision experience. Proven ability to manage, lead, motivate and evaluate people.

    Minimun 5 years experience in design, operation and maintenance of processes with Ammonia Refrigeration

    Mastery knowledge in Ammonia Refrigeration systems and industry leading practices.

    Strong fundamental understanding of industry leading practices in process safety management

    Demonstrated ability to lead and direct people/projects in cross-background team.

    Demonstrated to be collaborative, organized and detail orientated.

    Knowledge of food industry technical challenges, construction project management skills, and plant maintenance and reliability knowledge.

    Multiple plants and/or global operations experience

    Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft office applications, and engineering/construction applications.

    Ability to travel up to 35% of the time

    Fluent in English

    Ability to understand and navigate effectively through networks and across organizational boundaries to gain support

    Use knowledge to advance science or technical knowledge to influence regulations or recognized leading practices

    Ability to communicate and influence senior leadership to front line management

    Demonstrated excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    BS degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 15+ years experience working in Engineering, technical operations, project management and/or process safety management.

    Participate and pursue leadership roles in external organization to bring outside in perspective and exposure to leading practices

    Experience working with and/or leading Global teams.

    Ability to speak multiple languages
