REPORTING TO: Managing Director, Operations

LEVEL: Mid-Level



Reporting to the Managing Director, Operations, the Manager, Environment, Safety &

Compliance develops and implements programs and solutions that help the organization meet and maintain its safety and compliance objectives.

The Manager, Environment, Safety & Compliance is responsible for monitoring operating and regulatory changes and ensuring that they are fully integrated into the organization s environment, safety and compliance programs.


Manage the safety and compliance support for the organization as a whole.

Serve as a liaison, expert resource and point of contact for governmental contacts, customers and other stakeholders.

Develop and maintain strong familiarity with the organization s recycling operations.

Maintain and support the organization documentation of safety practices.

Lead the organization s efforts to obtain and maintain critical quality certifications, particularly

R2, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Advise account management and other organizational functions on the proper collection, handling and transportation of material including potentially hazardous material.

Participate in the development of a range of strategies, policies and plans that affect the organization and its stakeholders.

Benchmark, monitor and train collection sites on safety and compliance practices.

Monitor laws and regulations that might affect Call2Recycle s policies or practices.

Coordinate and perform recurring site inspections and environmental audits of recycling partner locations in accordance with company standards.

Conduct organization-wide training programs and initiatives to provide education on compliance requirements and practices.

Develop guideline documents and other materials intended to document safety and compliance programs.

Maintains positive relationships with the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and other regulatory audiences.

Minimum five years of related experience.

Bachelor s degree in field of scientific study or equivalent experience.

Bachelor s degree in related field or equivalent experience.

Hazardous Material certification a plus.

Demonstrated knowledge of safety and compliance principles, practices and measurement.

R2/ISO14001/ ISO 45001 experience strongly preferred.

Experience with regulatory agencies strongly preferred (US EPA, US DOT, TC, EC, OSHA, etc.)

Knowledge & Experience

Hazardous waste experience preferred.

Project management experience preferred.

Knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues preferred.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience, MS Business Central preferred.

Learn complex industry quickly, and succinctly articulate complex
