Burns & McDonnells regional office in St. Louis is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to specialize in the design and applications of mechanical systems in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work in our suburban Chesterfield office on an established team within our Oil, Gas & Chemical division (Global Practice) and perform the following duties:
+ Work includes conceptual studies, detailed design, field installation, and construction support in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
+ Will be assigned as the lead mechanical engineer for EPC (Engineer, Procure and Construct) projects.
+ Primary equipment includes pumps, compressors, pressure vessels and internals, tanks, heat exchangers, fired equipment, cooling towers, and third party designed and packaged equipment.
+ Maintain and promote a focus on safety and Burns & McDonnells final deliverables. Ensures effective communications with other engineering disciplines.
+ Ensures effective management of change.
+ Assume responsibility for equipment engineering scope, schedule and budget for EPC Projects.
+ Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
+ Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
+ Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings, and data.
+ Interfaces with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers/designers.
+ Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical equipment.
+ Participate in the development of P&ID's, package specifications, construction specifications, project schedules, project budgets, project staffing planning, and construction planning.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program and 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering in the petrochemical and/or oil & gas Industry.
+ PE license strongly preferred.
+ Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
+ Must have familiarity with mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
+ Must have the ability to travel overseas to monitor project execution with overseas engineering partner (occasional).
+ Must be willing and eligible to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
+ Must have the ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
+ Previous consulting experience preferred.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Must be capable of working large projects and delegating work tasks to large teams.
+ EPC project experience is highly preferred.
