Position Summary: Responsible for safety and regulatory management, process improvements and capital project management. Essential Responsibilities: Safety and Regulatory Compliance Develops innovative employee training content Administers employee training and maintains all records Ensures that compliance programs and procedures meet the EHS regulatory requirements. Administers and facilitates employee participation safety programs including internal audits, safety committee meetings, employee safety observations, and employee incentive programs. Manages all EHS regulatory reporting Facilitates all regulatory audits Responsible for compliance with the 14 elements of 29 CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management including management of change, process hazard analysis, mechanical integrity, and contractor management. Administers and manages industrial hygiene monitoring of employees Manages hazardous waste program Participates as an active member of a 4-person management team that drives plant improvements in safety, quality, lean manufacturing, training etc. Develops and assists in developing site procedures and visual work instructions especially those that create process or safety improvement. Maintains all records for procedures and training. Essential Education/Experience/Skills: B.S. Degree, preferably in engineering or a physical science Experience at a specialty chemical plant under an OSHA PSM program is preferred Experience and / or certification to conduct employee safety training as required by OSHA, EPA, and DOT is also desirable Must be able to demonstrate skills in employee training and process/project engineering Must be able to demonstrate the ability to understand the manufacturing process including all regulatory and quality requirements to ensure compliance of procedural and training content PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works mostly inside in an office environment, but periodically outside subject to changes in various weather conditions and temperatures. Work is mostly sedentary but intermittently involves climbing, standing, walking, balance and coordination when checking out sites or equipment. Travel is required on specific assignments. Operates various equipment such as computers, drafting equipment and instruments involving scientific meters and measuring devices.
