The AbbVie Experiential Internship Program

As an AbbVie Experiential Intern, you'll participate in a paid, ten to twelve-week summer program that is focused on providing students with robust projects throughout the summer. As an intern, you will be located at our corporate headquarters in north suburban Chicago, with housing and shuttle services for eligible students.

Department Overview - Global Environment, Health and Safety

Department is responsible for AbbVie Global Environment, Health and Safety program while also providing day to day support to Commercial, Headquarters and Operations organization. The organization concerns itself with the health and safety of all AbbVie employees through the prevention of accidents, illnesses and injuries as well as the protection of the environment.

Included in the Global EHS function are governance, sustainability, data analytics, loss prevention and process safety, employee health and safety, environmental compliance, contractor safety and Occupational hygiene.

Assignment Details

  • Assist with a variety of environmental, safety and occupational hygiene programs including routine inspections, monitoring and reporting
  • Assist in conducting construction safety inspections for projects located throughout Lake County facilities
  • Occupational Hygiene assessments including ergonomic assessment of office workstations and operations throughout Lake County facilities
  • Assisting with various technical EHS projects associated with Process Safety, Loss Prevention and Energy Sustainability


Basic:
  • Completed at least one year of college education before beginning internship
  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship
  • Undergraduate student majoring in chemical engineering, occupational hygiene, safety and health, environmental science or engineering
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0/4.0
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship (students on an F1 visa with CPT can be accommodated).


Preferred:
  • Occupational hygiene monitoring
  • Data analysis
